  6. It comprises the departements of
  7. Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, and
  8. Vosges, and its capital is Nancy. There are
  9. deposits of coal, iron ore, and salt; grain,
  10. fruit, and livestock are farmed. In 1871 the
  11. region was ceded to Germany as part of
  12. Alsace-Lorraine.
